1) Lakewood Forest Play Group. This Facebook-organized playground is led by an-ex Montessori teacher on Monday mornings at Bear Creek Park. The play group combines learning and fun through hikes along Bear Creek and nature-inspired crafting ($5) at the pavilion.
2) Local Library Programs. Bear Valley and Lakewood's libraries are a goldmine for family-friendly activities. Programs at Bear Valley, Columbine, and Belmar libraries offer storytime, crafts, and educational events tailored to young learners. Plus they have play areas for your kids. Win win win!
3) Table Public House. Located on the Platte river just off Evans, Table Public House is just a 12 min drive (and 30 min bike ride!) from Bear Valley. It's a coffee house/brewery/farm to table place with an indoor play area for kids. They also often organize community events (trivia night, etc).
4) The Bridge Church Coffee House (and Parent Group). The Bridge Church near Bear Creek School has a really nice big coffee house Mon-Sat. They have board games and even a nursing/quiet room with some baby toys. Finally, the church organizes a regular parents group featuring topical discussions to help you navigate parenthood.
